Why are soy candles my choice

Here are lots of candle choices out there – including candles made from a variety of ingredients. Candles can be made from beeswax, vegetable wax, gel wax, soy, paraffin, or combinations of various waxes and fillers.
1) Soy candles are environmentally friendly. Soybeans are a natural and renewable resource. Soy candles are also biodegradable. A number of other types of candles – notably paraffin, made from petroleum products – are made from less environmentally-sensitive materials. Even beeswax candles are not always appreciated by vegans and others, since the bees need to be exploited in other to gather the wax. In many cases, soy candles are made from 100% soybeans, meaning that there are also fewer petroleum-based fillers in these candles.
2) Soy candles make economic sense. Soy beans are grown in the USA, which means that when you buy these candles you support local farmers. Many soy candles sold in the US are also made locally, which means that you are supporting domestic manufacturers by buying these products.
3) Soy wax is a very clean burning wax. Soy candles tend to soot less than paraffin candles or other candles with plenty of fillers. Soy wax is non-toxic and as a result it burns cleaner than paraffin. This means that you get no petrol-carbon soot which is a known carcinogen and which can blacken the walls and furnishings in your home. As a result, wax candles can also allow you to breathe easier, even if you have respiratory ailments.
4) In many cases, soy wax burns longer than petroleum wax. Soy candles burn cooler than paraffin wax, which means that they also burn slower and therefore last longer. This can make these candles a better value for your money.
5) Soy candles are non-toxic. Not only are they safe for children and pets, but in many cases organic soy candles are made with wicks that have no lead or zinc and are made with cotton or paper cores. With the number of product recalls lately that have involved toxic lead paints and other dangerous ingredients, customers can rest easy knowing that soy candles may be safer.
6) Spills from soy candles are easily cleaned up with soap and water. If you’ve ever tried to clean up the paraffin wax from a carpet, table, or piece of furniture after it has spilled, you know how difficult it can be. Most waxes leave a greasy film and residue on any surface they touch, making cleanup very difficult. In contrast, soy candles tend to be easily cleaned up with simple soap and water. This helps make accidental spills much less of a problem. Also, if your soy candles come in pretty jars, you can easily clean up these jars for reuse.
7) Scented soy candles tend to retain their fragrance well. In many cases, candles that are cheaply made have lots of fillers and various types of cheap waxes that do not retain their scents very well. In contrast, soy candles tend to really maintain their fragrance for many hours. In fact, many soy candles are highly fragrant before they are even lit, making perfect sachets for your dresser drawers and linen closets. Once lit, soy candles tend to release their fragrances soonerand for a longer time than most other candles.
